PHOTOGRAPHY MONTH SACRAMENTO - Yolo Arts will present the exhibition FOUND OBJECTS. Featuring the work of seven emerging and well established photographers, PHOTO Sacto | CRIT Sessions themed concept is "found objects."

Exhibitors include: Juliet Haas, Manny Melliza, Tim Messick, Michael Radin, David L. Robertson and Farrell Scott.

The show is presented in association with YOLO Arts and Photography Month Sacramento and will celebrate the culmination of the first year of CRIT Sessions with the founding members of PHOTO Sacto.

The Critique group PHOTO Sacto was birthed from the idea of creating a space for photographers to share their expertise and passion for the fine art of image making and to motivate the practice of creating new work. Juliet Haas held the first session as a Meetup one year ago on March 16, 2017, and the founding members have continued to meet the third Thursday of every month alternating from the home studio of David L. Robertson to Farrell Scott’s Creative Space studio in Woodland, California. Manny Melliza joined the group soon after it was formed, and the additional members, Dennis McCoy, Tim Messick and Michael Radin, were invited to sit in and joined in the fall of 2017.

One of the formal written goals of the CRIT group is to celebrate the one-year anniversary with an exhibition, and April’s Inaugural Photography Month Sacramento seemed the perfect opportunity for PHOTO Sacto to make its Debut.

Found Objects, the theme of the Yolo Arts - Gallery 625 exhibit, is the one genre of photography the entire group shares in common, the love of going out into the environment and discovering the beauty in the world around us. It is the practice of “seeing” through the eyes of texture and light, shape, form, composition and color. To paraphrase a quote from Magnum Photographer David Allen Harvey “don’t shoot what you see, shoot what you feel.”

Please join Juliet Haas, Manny Melliza, Tim Messick, Michael Radin, David L. Robertson and Farrell Scott as we celebrate our love of photography at Gallery 625’s First Friday Opening Reception April 6, 2018.
